WHY PINNACLES
Explore with Friends
Pinnacles National Park is an often overlooked National Park in California. The beautiful landscape was created from volcanic eruptions ages ago, and is an absolute marvel to hike through. One of my favorite aspects of Pinnacles is that you really have to get out on the hiking trails to experience the wonders this park has to offer. There are no roads that cut through like some other parks - but don't worry - it is also a bit smaller in scale so it's not too daunting a feat.
It's a truly beautiful place to hike with friends not far from San Francisco (a day trip if you leave early!). Remember to always leave no trace, but definitely enjoy your time in this gorgeous park experiencing gorgeous caves, rock structures, and of course California Condors
HIKES
My favorite hikes in Pinnacles
High Peaks
Long loop through the middle of the park that goes through the high peaks region.
highlights
It may say steep and narrow on the trial map but I assure you it is worth it and equipped with railings and well carved steps to make the steep parts easier
Bear Gulch
Very easy hike up along Moses Spring trail to the Bear Gulch cave system
highlights
Absolutely gorgeous and exciting cave hike at the end that lets out overlooking a reservoir. A very fun hike for everyone. Remember your headlamps or flashlights in the caves!
Condor Gulch
Hike up the middle of the park perfect for spotting Condors
highlights
There's an overlook about halfway through the trail that is by a little waterfall. If you stay till dark (bring your headlamps!) the stars are gorgeous.
WILDLIFE
California Condors
The National Parks are doing some really incredible work with the conservation of the California Condor Species. Pinnacles National Park also happens to be a perfect viewing area for these amazing birds.
